And what a party it was. The stage was huge with a giant picture of London’s skyline broadcast on a huge stage wall. They built a pond a couple of feet deep and it was pretty amazing with the broadcast reflecting in it. Cocktails flowed, tasty little munchies were everywhere. The crowd of journalists, media types, local celebrities and a wide range of Jag and Range Rover owners made for a festive crowd.
The stars of the show as you saw in the video were the new Jaguar F-Type and Range Rover. The were greeted with applause as their silk covers were withdrawn and they moved across the stage.
The Range Rover was nice, certainly very luxurious inside. The show stopper for me was the new F Type from Jaguar. What a gorgeous car, one that I see populating the streets of L.A and So Cal very quickly, especially with a starting price of 65K which was announced at the L.A Auto Show this morning at their press event.

Yup, its that time of year, time for what I think is becoming the premiere Auto Show in North America. Actually I think we kick Detroit’s show into the ground as they don’t have Kenetia Hall full of Tuners, Customizers and other goodies that we have. Hell, even Detroit as grudgingly noted that our show is an important one. Yeah us!
All the fun for me starts tonight with an invitation only Premiere party for the new Jag X-F and Range Rover that will debut on Press Days this week. Press Days are 11/28 & 29. I’ll be there both days photoing it all as well as blogging about it here and on blogging.la. Pics will be posted as time permits on flickr.
All the information you could want about the L.A. Auto Show can be found on their web site. You can even order tickets online and avoid the hassle of standing in line to do so on the day you attend.
I’ll focus on the gassers in this post, but do be aware there will be a review of the Hybrid (and hopefully the +Engeri even later) in the coming days.
For 2013 Ford took some very bold moves with the Fusion. Gone is the bland in style of the last generation to very marked move towards being the leading stylish entry in the segment. It paid to keep their talent close when they sold off their luxury brands a few years ago, the new Fusion has the look of a much more expensive car borrowing cues from the Aston Martin and Jag. And added bonus, in driving, especially the full tilt Titanium with AWD, you get the feel of a very refined European road car, not your typical mid-size for the masses auto. Watch out everyone this Fusion is loaded for bear in the segment. Continue reading

Ready or not here it comes. This year has a ton more hype and likely well deserved. There will be 50 debuts, with as many as 20 being World Premieres. Some of the debuts are so secret that on the press conference guide they are listed as “TBA” as the manufacturer doesn’t want anything leaked until the unveiling.
Press days are November 28-29 and I look forward to seeing all the new cars and Green Car of the Year award. Of course I’ll share what I find here and on flickr.
The show will run November 30 through December 9 2o12. All the info you could want on the show can be found at the LA Auto Show Web. Tickets can be purchased fee free and in advance HERE.

Best of France and Italy Car Show, click to embiggen
This should be interesting, and certainly a unique niche in the classic car genre…French and Italian jobbies all in one location. You will find a lot of classic cars from these countries in a variety of states of repair and tune at the show.
The show will take place at Woodley Avenue Park just south of Victory Blvd on Woodley Avenue near the Japanese Gardens. Its official time is 9AM til 2PM, but get there early for the best viewing as these guys do like to leave early. More information is available on their Facebook page.

Yet another reason to love the Focus
Let me gush and wax poetic on this incredible little machine. Start with the already handsome Ford Focus and add in a nearly 250Hp turbocharged direct injected 2 liter engine and you have yourself one heck of a fast little compact car. Upgrades for the suspension, adjust the torque vectoring to handle all the power and add in a 6 speed manual tranny for good measure and you have a really fun compact car with little competition in the market place.
